Flight 14 moved up: now targeting September 15, next Tuesday

Update (Sept. 12): the target has since moved to September 18; see the newer item.

The launch date moved again, and this time in the direction dates almost never move. Starship's fourteenth flight test is now tracking no earlier than Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from Pad 2 at Starbase, fifteen days earlier than the September 30 target we reported on September 5. SpaceX has not published a launch time. We said then that "no earlier than" dates move; we should have added that they occasionally move toward you. If you were planning a trip around the 30th, re-plan now.

What hasn't changed: this is still slated as the third flight of the V3 vehicle (Booster 21 and Ship 41) and still the attempt that matters most, the program's first try at an orbital trajectory, reportedly carrying about 20 operational Starlink V3 satellites rather than a test arc. With the target inside a week, the confirmation to watch is no longer a filing; it's the City of Starbase's closure orders, which typically post two to five days out. Check them before you drive, and start with our launch viewing guide. [Link corrected Sept. 10: closures post on the city's page now, not Cameron County's; see the correction.]
