It's a go: the FAA issued the Flight 14 launch license this afternoon, and the last regulatory gate is clear
The one box we've watched all week is checked. The Federal Aviation Administration issued SpaceX's launch license for Starship Flight 14 this afternoon, the final regulatory approval standing between the stacked rocket and Monday morning. It's on the FAA's own register, not a rumor: license VOL 23-129, Revision 9.0, effective September 26, 2026, signed by Ansel L. Collins of the FAA's Safety Authorization Division. NASASpaceflight, whose cameras have been on the pad all week, put it plainly on X around 4:20 PM Central: "Starship Flight 14 has its launch license. All go for Monday."
What it changes: Monday's first orbital attempt now comes down to weather and hardware, not paperwork. One honest caution for anyone double-checking us, because we'd want to know: SpaceX's public mission page was still carrying its standing "pending regulatory approval" line as of this evening. That's their web copy lagging the register, not a contradiction of it; the license is issued, and the primary source is the FAA, not the marketing page. Everything else already favored Monday and still does. The launch-day closure holds unchanged: Mayor's Order No. 2026-23 closes Boca Chica Beach and Highway 4 Monday 4:00 to 10:00 AM, backups Tuesday and Wednesday, and the city's beach-access header now lists all three closure windows instead of "open." The city also posted an overnight road delay for tonight, 11:59 PM to 4:00 AM, for a "Pad to Production" transport along Highway 4; the page doesn't name what moves, and we won't guess. On the pad itself, NSF reported the stack is whole again: Ship 41 was destacked after Thursday's rehearsal and restacked today, still on track for the 28th.
For launch morning, the forecast cooperates. The National Weather Service point forecast for Boca Chica has Monday's window mostly sunny, 80 to 84 degrees, rain chance under 15 percent, and wind of 1 to 2 miles per hour, about as calm as South Texas offers. The beach nearest the pad is closed under the order, so South Padre Island is the view: the viewing guide covers where to stand, and the city's text alerts (text BEACH to 866-513-3475) will call any change before we can. The window opens Monday at 7:15 AM Central and runs 75 minutes.
