State document names an "initial route" for SpaceX's Louisiana site

A Louisiana transportation document dated Sept. 4, 2026 says a route from I-10 at Crowley through Kaplan to LA 3147 "has been selected as the initial route" for Project Osprey, the code name for SpaceX's Louisiana site. The page appeared on screen during a TV interview with Realtor Richie Guillory posted Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, and he said it came from a public records request to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. The route may have changed since.

The page is headed "Project Osprey Status Update (9-4-2026)." Under "Initial Route," it says: "LA 1111 (beginning at I-10 in Crowley) - US 90 - LA 13 - LA 14 - LA 35 - LA 82 - LA 3147 has been selected as the initial route."

It gives these reasons: "LA 13 has undergone recent improvements and is generally in good condition. This route provides better maneuverability, less impact to local communities, and a bridge crossing over the railroad tracks."

  • What the page as shown doesn't say: who or what would use the route, or who wrote it. Its map draws the line in two colors, and the words shown on air don't explain why.
  • How current it is: Sept. 4 is the date on the document. Nothing shown says it is still the plan.
  • Who cited it: Guillory owns RG Homes and is a licensed Realtor with eXp Realty. The interview was about the area's real estate market.
  • Where it ends: SpaceX's coastal use permit application, P20260831, gives its location as "Terminus of Hwy 3147 (Freshwater City Road), Pecan Island, Vermilion Parish." It was filed Sept. 25, 2026 and sent back as incomplete on Oct. 1. The state's tracker still showed it as incomplete on Nov. 4, 2026. The application doesn't call the site a launch site.

Louisiana Economic Development's SpaceX page says the state transportation department "is working with the SpaceX team to evaluate transportation routes, road and bridge conditions and expected traffic impacts during construction and operations" and "is evaluating potential improvements to Highway 82." That page names no route through Crowley or Kaplan.
