Just posted: SpaceX asked the Port of Brownsville for a 30-foot-wide easement for a 16-inch natural gas pipeline about 150 feet underground, the Port board's Oct. 7 minutes show. The line would run about 4,319 feet, or about 0.8 mile, from the Highway 48 right of way to SpaceX-owned land south of R.L. Ostos Road. The board voted Oct. 7 to authorize negotiations.

RGV Business Journal reported in June that the board approved a 30-foot easement in late May for a 16-inch SpaceX natural gas line of more than 8 miles, and on Oct. 20 that it approved a $2 million SpaceX pipeline deal. The Oct. 7 minutes don't say whether this line is part of either.

  • The same night: the board renewed the SpaceX lease, and tabled the fill dirt sale and action on the closed-door SpaceX item. Our Oct. 19 story has the agendas.
  • Oct. 20: the board approved SpaceX deals, including a memorandum of understanding, RGV Business Journal reports. The full terms aren't posted yet.

Next: we'll read the Oct. 20 minutes when the Port posts them.
