SpaceX asks the FCC for Starship launch radio authority at Starbase and Kennedy Space Center, Jan. 1 to June 1, 2027

SpaceX has asked the Federal Communications Commission for launch radio authority for Starship at Starbase and Kennedy Space Center. The application, 1995-EX-ST-2026, was received Nov. 4, 2026, and signed Oct. 5. It's pending. The window it asks for runs Jan. 1 to June 1, 2027.

The filing says the request is "necessary for Starship Multi-Launch authorization for launch vehicle communications for upcoming Starship launches from Starbase TX and KSC, FL." It says it uses information from grant 1679-EX-ST-2026, the Flight 15 authorization, "and adds locations at KSC FL."

That grant lists 11 station blocks, all in Texas. The new request lists 17. All six added blocks are in Florida: three at Pad 39A, two labeled KSC and one at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The 12 frequencies are the same on both.

We found no other Starship launch request naming Kennedy in SpaceX's 2025-2026 experimental filings. The ones we found that name Florida and Starship cover ground tests only.

The request isn't a launch approval. The filing names the FAA's Office of Commercial Space Transportation as the launch licensing authority. It gives no flight number and no launch count, and Jan. 1 starts a requested window, not a launch date. SpaceX reportedly hopes to launch Starship from Florida by the end of the year.
