The slip hands Monday to city hall: annexation night now stands alone
One consequence of the new launch date is worth its own note. Until this week's slip, the coming week was set up as a doubleheader: Monday's stacked commission meeting, then Starship the next morning. With the launch now the following Monday, September 21 belongs entirely to city hall, and it remains the biggest single agenda in the young city's history: a third public hearing plus same-night action on the ordinance annexing the ~7,133-acre area, the rolled-over Garcia Lot hearing and votes (Ordinances 2026-24 and 2026-25, the 444-acre SpaceX petition), and a new resolution of intent to annex the State Highway 4 right-of-way, the only road to the launch site. If both annexation items pass, nearly 7,600 acres join the city limits in one evening. The meeting is Monday at 7:00 PM; speaker cards go to the City Clerk five minutes before, two minutes per speaker and three during public hearings. We'll publish the outcomes once they're known, and reconcile the open tax-notice discrepancy when the minutes post.
